Letting Go of the Need to Know {Week 2, Day 2}

September 22, 2020
“40 Days” by Proverbs 31 Ministries | P31 OBS Week 2 Quote

Hello there, and happy Tuesday to you all!

I don’t like being in the dark, either literally or figuratively. I want to know things; I want to understand why things happen. Especially when they’re difficult. But the truth is, no matter how desperate we are to understand, we’re not always going to. And that’s when it gets hard.

Yesterday I said our freedom doesn’t always come packaged the way we would imagine. That’s because the freedom we long for isn’t found in us knowing all the answers, but rather knowing the One who does.

The pages of today’s reading are tough. They contain some hard-to-comprehend accounts of the slavery of God’s people. Painful though they may be, there’s still hope tucked within the pages as we lay witness to God’s sovereignty through it all.

Bible study tip! Focus on the hope, not the hard. Underline anything that stands out to you and offers you hope. These are the things you can focus on.

Take hold of that hope today, and breathe it in deep. Allow it to illuminate those dark places of uncertainty in your soul. Be willing to let go of your need to know, and find your rest today in the One who does.

Let’s do this.

Today, we’ll be reading:

Praying for you!

Let’s Chat!

What is something for which you need to let go of your need to know? How will you place it in God’s hands today?

P.S. Tomorrow you get to hear from my friend and contributor, Nancy Voyles. She’s got a great message to share, and I can’t wait for you to read it!
