Getting Past the Familiar {Week 5, Day 2}

Welcome to Tuesday, friends!

I love that I get to be here with you for our first week in the New Testament because these passages we’re studying are among my favorites. But that also means they’re the passages of Scripture I’m most familiar with.

While familiarity isn’t a bad thing, it does sometimes become a struggle to view these biblical accounts with fresh eyes. If you can relate, then this is for you.

Back in Foundations Week, we shared a PDF with some tips for getting the most out of your Bible study time. Among those was reading Scripture in a different translation than you’re used to. This is a great start! But what if it’s not enough?

Bible study tip! Take the time to summarize in writing the main points of what you’re reading along with a personal application you can take from it.

This is great to do whether it’s all new to you or you’ve read it 100 times. God’s Word is living and active, (Hebrews 4:12) and there’s always something to learn. When I take the time to really process through even the most familiar of verses, I never fail to walk away with new insight and refreshment. I hope this helps you too!
