2,000 Years Too Late? {Week 5, Day 4}

October 15, 2020
“40 Days” by Proverbs 31 Ministries | P31 OBS Week 5b Verse

Hey there! It’s time for another praise break!

Did you know that this week’s biblical content is some of my favorite? Okay, okay, I’ve said that on every blog I’ve written so far this week. Don’t throw a shoe at me!

The reason I love it so much, though, is because we don’t just hear rumors about Jesus; we get to actually meet Him through firsthand accounts found in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and next week, John. We get to learn about how He was sent to earth, His baptism, His ministry, and now, today, what’s come to be known as the Sermon on the Mount.

Can you imagine what it must’ve been like to be there? To actually hear Him speak?

Matthew 7:28-29 (ESV) tells us:

“And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.”

While we’re about 2,000 years too late to have witnessed it in person, we still have access to these powerful teachings through Scripture. And what a gift that is — one I’m extraordinarily grateful for — because the wisdom He poured forth back then is just as applicable and life-changing now as it ever was.

Thank You, Jesus, for that gift!

Today, we’re working through:

As we go through our day, let’s remain in an attitude of gratitude!
