Hey there! My name is Alicia Hunter, and I’m one of the study leaders for our next P31 OBS, featuring the book Dangerous Prayers by Craig Groeschel.
I am in my 26th year in education, and I love it. When I teach, I have my students start with a pre-test to determine what they know. It’s a quick “temperature check” to see how prepared they are to learn something new. It’s also a great tool they can come back to later to see how much they have progressed.
As we get ready to dive into our study, let’s do our own “temperature check,” or pre-test, on the status of our prayers!
Look at the two lists of words below describing the difference between “safe” and “dangerous” prayers. When you think about your prayer life, which side do you tend to land on — the left, the right OR somewhere in between?
SAFE PRAYERS OR DANGEROUS PRAYERS
Predictable OR Passionate
Boring OR Gutsy
Lame OR Life-Changing
Well, what do your results tell you?
My pretest tells me I need more dangerous prayers in my life! Though the word "dangerous" scares me a little (because I like to follow rules and play it safe), I also want to grow closer to God. I need to allow Him to take me out of my comfort zone and put some flames to my prayers!
When I think about "dangerous prayers" being passionate, gutsy, life-changing prayers that will get me out of my predictable routine and into a place God can use me, THAT excites me! I hope it excites you, too, because that's where we're heading with this study!
