Not Today, Satan! {Week 4}

July 19, 2021
“Get Out of Your Head” by Jennie Allen | P31 OBS Week 4 Verse

Hey there! I’m Missy, and I will be leading you through Weeks 4 and 5. Thank you, Brandy, for leading us the last two weeks.

Confession — I can be a “what if” woman. If I allow it, a parade of “what ifs” can bombard my mind, sending my thoughts out of control. One pivotal “what if” moment was when my son flew back to Texas for the spring semester of college. Every worst-case scenario played out in my mind. Instead of surrendering my fears to God, I felt the roots of anxiety intertwine deep into my thoughts, and it was there where the enemy tried his hardest to derail me from the Truth.

On page 114, Jennie writes:

“Truth is the most powerful weapon we have against the enemy.”

God’s Word is the Truth.

That night, the truth that I used to combat my anxiety was this week’s Verse of the Week, Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV):

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

This week, Jennie encourages us to grab those anxious thoughts, diagnose them and take them to God. We then need to make a choice — are we going to believe God?

Believing God is the key to stopping our toxic thoughts and telling the enemy, “Not today, Satan!”

This Week …

We’ll be reading Chapters 10-12 of Get Out of Your Head. You can read the chapters at your own pace or follow the suggested reading plan in the "Next Steps" section.

We’ll be doing three check-in blog posts:

Today (this, right here).

Wednesday (including an optional, standalone Bible study lesson).

Friday (including the Session 4 teaching video with Jennie Allen).

In the P31 OBS Video of the Week, Jennie answers questions for the girl who just yelled at her kids. Whether you have children or not, the advice Jennie gives applies to all women.

Blessings!
