I Believe God! {Week 4}

July 21, 2021
“Get Out of Your Head” by Jennie Allen | P31 OBS Study

Welcome back!

Were you able to complete the thought assessment on page 115 of Get Out of Your Head? How’d it go? For me, filling out the first three boxes was easy. Then I got to the last box: “Am I going to believe God?” Hesitation kicked in. With all my heart, I wanted to say, “Yes, I am going to believe God!” But my pen couldn’t write the words.

I know that God is sovereign and full of grace. I know that He loves me, so why couldn’t I write “yes”? Struggling, I turned to one of my favorite books of the Bible — Romans. Paul wrote this remarkable letter to remind us of God’s righteousness and redeeming love.

And there, tucked away in Romans 4:3, is this truth:

For what does the Scripture say? ‘Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness’” (ESV).

Abraham believed God.

This is the same Abraham who moved his household toward the promised land because he believed God. He is the same Abraham who was willing to sacrifice his son, Isaac, because he believed God.

The God of Abraham is the same God of you and me. Abraham believed God because he saw God at work, and we can, too. So, without further hesitation, I wrote in big, bold letters, “Yes, I believe God!”

If you are staring at that empty box in the right-hand, bottom corner of the page, take some time to pray and seek the Truth, and then proclaim boldly with me, “I believe!”

Cheering you on,

Missy
