Hi there! In case we haven’t met yet, my name is Stacy Lowe, and I’m one of your Hidden Potential study leaders.

Y’all … these past few months have been tough. There’s no getting around that. While social media can be a great tool for learning and growth, it can also be a spectator sport of all that's gone wrong in the world. There’s so much hate. There’s so much hurt.

Despite the brokenness around us, though, as Wendy Pope says on page 31 of Hidden Potential,

“We have to keep believing that God can even when He isn’t at the moment.”

It can be hard to keep believing, especially when it seems the world is falling apart around us. But amongst all the hate and the hurt lies a wellspring of hope, because God hasn’t given up His control, not even for a moment. Not only that, in Romans 8:28 (NIV), Paul reminds us that “in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

In all things, y’all. Not just the light, not just the beautiful, not just the happy, joyful moments of life, but in all things. This means that, even now, God is working in and for each of His children. In the midst of the chaos surrounding us, His gentle whisper remains, beckoning us to look His way and listen to what He has to say about it all.

To better hear God’s voice, we need to turn DOWN the world, and turn UP the Word. By that, I mean the holy Word of God. He has so much He’s wanting to say to us and speak into us, nuggets of wisdom and Truth that can only be found by meeting with Him in prayer and in Scripture. This is when He can address those things inside of us that need to change and teach us how to best reflect Him even in the most tumultuous of times.
