Turning Devastations Into Revelations {Week 2}

January 28, 2019

Hi OBSer!

Have you ever found yourself in a circumstance feeling, “This is costing me too much”?

As we’ll hear in today’s video, Lysa has. And my hand is raised too. I’ve gasped those words in complete brokenness. I’ve found myself relating to that excruciating moment on the cross where Jesus cried, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46) And I’ve felt the utter desperation that left me with.

Because this is a fallen world, I’m guessing I’m not alone. I’m also guessing I’m not alone in never wanting to stay in that place. Which is also why we’re here: to learn from those disappointing places in our lives, heal and move on, AND learn how to better walk through future disappointments.

Yes, please, Lord.

In case you don’t know me, I’m Katrina Wylie (AKA Kat), your study leader for this week. And I have a challenge for you.

By the time Week 2 rolls around, it’s not uncommon to already forget why we’re here and start to get caught up in just completing the “to-do’s.” But I think I can say with confidence that’s not why we signed up. So my challenge is this:

Write out your heart’s why — why you signed up and what you’re hoping to walk away with. Then keep that in front of you by reading it daily so that it remains the focus that drives you.

Deal?

Alright, now let’s dig in!

Last week we learned we can’t predict or control our outcomes, but we can know we’ll be okay. And we realized the importance of learning to wrestle well in this time between the two gardens. SO good. But we’re just getting started!

As we get rolling this week, don’t forget to grab the Week at a Glance resource to help you plan each day. And to take this week’s study deeper, here’s the Week 2 Bible Study Companion to work through.

But before jumping in, let’s check back in with Kendra, Melissa and Lysa for some words of wisdom and practical steps!
