Finishing for the Win!

October 10, 2017

Brenda here, to close out Week 5. Wasn't this week so encouraging? It's simply gone way too fast though!

This week we've received encouragement to fight to rescue the girl within. And we've practiced turning lies into truth. Not to mention tackling some additional terrific topics in Section 5! But now it's time for each of us to take it all and finish for the win.

Chrystal Evans Hurst reminds us in Chapter 22:

"It is good to have people in your life who cheer you on or give you guidance, but you must be willing to encourage yourself so you can keep your momentum going."

So sweet friend, it doesn't matter how many others we have cheering us on. It's helpful, yes. But until we learn to do it for ourselves, we'll never win the fight. WE are our MVP (Most Valuable Player) in this game of life!

As I read #ShesStillThere, I penned a poem to encourage myself, and I want to share it with you:

Mirror, mirror on the wall

The little girl who wanted it all — the dreams, the expectations, the LIFE,

A masterpiece in HER own right.

But where did she go? Where did she hide?

Where's the picture of the better life?

Does she know she can let go? Does she know she can fight?

"To be brave enough to believe of the beautiful life?"

A life filled with promise, a life filled with hope

She's a work of art — His own design

Heavenly crafted with purpose Divine.

Who is this little girl inside me?

Who is SHE?

How did I get here?

How can this be?

There's more to her than meets the eye,

I only have to look deep inside.

I was created, made for more,

Uniquely crafted, incredibly designed.

There's no one like ME,

I firmly believe —

This journey's a process,

A process indeed!

I want to encourage you to encourage yourself. Because we ARE our best cheerleader!

Cheers to you for finishing for the win,
Brenda

Reflect and Respond:

Using "post-it notes" or 3x5 cards, write three encouraging statements about yourself and then place them in separate locations. (My sticky note, "There's no one else on earth like you!" was made into a pendant necklace I can always wear.) Where will you place your reminders?
