Trust is a Choice {Week 1}

January 20, 2020

Hello there! Today we begin our newest Proverbs 31 Online Bible Study: Trustworthy by Lysa TerKeurst! My name is Stacy Lowe, and I’ll be here leading you on the blog this week.

For many people, January means New Year’s resolutions to do better, to be better. But me? I’m not so big into resolutions. While I may start off strong, I inevitably fall short, and I’m left feeling like a failure. Can you relate?

This lack of follow-through that we as humans are often plagued by is never a problem for God. Don’t just take my word for it, though. Since the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior, we can actually test this out! Over these next six weeks together, we’ll do just that. We’ll dig deep and search for evidence of God’s trustworthiness through the lens of Scripture, then apply the lessons learned to our here and now.

Sound good? Then let’s get started!

This Week’s Focus

We’ll be studying Kings David, Saul and Solomon.

Our Verse of the Week is Psalm 62:8:

“Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.”

Woven all throughout this week’s content is the idea that trust is a choice. As you work through these first five days in our book, take note of the choices made by the various key players  those who chose to trust God and those who didn’t  and what happened to each.

Weekly Resources

Each Monday, we’ll have our P31 OBS video for you featuring Trustworthy Author Lysa TerKeurst as well as P31 OBS Manager Kendra Schwarz and Director of Theology Joel Muddamalle. Together, they share the heart behind the book and what we can expect to get out of it. Let’s watch!

Need instructions to access closed captioning or the video transcript? No problem!

Right here each week, we’ll also be sharing our Study at a Glance resource. Download this handy calendar to see what we’ll be reading each week as well as when you can expect blog posts, videos and more! (And if you’re still waiting on your book to arrive, no worries! Here’s the first week's book content. Thanks, LifeWay Publishers!)
