Trust > Fear {Week 4}

February 10, 2020

Hello! My name is Quanny, and I’ll be your study leader this week in our Trustworthy study! Whether you are joining us now, catching up, or you feel a little behind, no pressure! Our time together is stress-free, so let yourself off the hook and join us right where we are! We’re a little more than halfway through and I’m excited for what’s in store. (Spoiler alert: It's time for a good king!)

Take a deep breath, loosen your shoulders, shake your arms and relax. Okay, now we’re ready!

This Week’s Focus

We’ll be studying King Hezekiah.

Our Verse of the Week is Proverbs 30:5:

“Every word of God proves true; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.”

As we discussed back in Week 1, trust is a choice, not a feeling. But what about when we're afraid? Well, I have great news: Trust is greater than fear, something Hezekiah learned in his own life. As you work through this week, take note of the fears he grappled with and the choices he made that allowed him to stand firm in his trust in God.

Weekly Resources

Don’t forget to check out this week’s P31 OBS video with Lysa, Kendra and Joel. Today, we'll learn how fear and doubt can act as barriers to trust. We'll also hear how Hezekiah's story can benefit us even now.

Here are instructions to access closed captioning or the video transcript if you need them.

Also, don't forget about our Study at a Glance resource so you'll know what to expect and how you can participate each week!

STUDY AT A GLANCE

Hezekiah was considered a good king, but that in and of itself wasn’t enough. Are you ready to find out why this is important for us too? I know I am! Let’s get to Week 4!

Reflect and Respond:

This week, we're learning how fear can negatively affect our trust. As we get started, let's reflect: How has fear clouded your vision lately? What happened as a result?
