Friends! You have made it to the finish line. I think I speak for the entire P31 OBS team when I say how incredibly proud of you we are for sticking with it. Now that we’ve made it through the book content, I wanted to share a few last thoughts to help us put all the pieces together.

Trustworthy is defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary as “worthy of confidence, dependable.” So when we say God is trustworthy, those are the specific characteristics we are ascribing to Him. This means...

He was worthy of confidence for Saul, David and Solomon.

He was worthy of confidence for Rehoboam and Jeroboam.

He was worthy of confidence for Ahab and Jehoash.

He was worthy of confidence for Hezekiah.

He was worthy of confidence for Josiah.

They weren’t always dependable, but HE WAS, and He proved it time and time again.

Since He is the same yesterday, today and forever, we can be assured He’s worthy of our confidence too, even in the worst this fallen world can bring. It’s up to US, though, whether or not we trust Him. Whether we’ll walk in obedience even when it doesn’t make sense or insist upon our own way instead.

As Lysa said all the way back in Week 1,

“A big part of learning to rely on a trustworthy God is resetting how we define good.”

And what is good? Whatever brings Him glory.

So rather than ask, “Why is this happening?” the better question might be, “What can I do in this situation to bring Him glory?” Because that’s really what it’s all about, isn’t it? Using our lives to bring honor and glory to our infinitely trustworthy God.
