Our Next Study Changed My Life

My name is Melissa Taylor, and if we haven’t met, I’m the senior director of Online Bible Studies and First 5, but more importantly, your Bible study friend!

In 2011, I created Online Bible Studies because I couldn’t attend my in-person Bible study anymore. I had four kids at home and a full-time job, and the schedule wasn’t working out for me.

Flash forward to today and our next study will be our 50th online Bible study, and it’s a study that completely changed my life. I’m not kidding. Let me tell you a little more about it.

You see, last year, I went through a really, really hard season. It was one of those seasons that completely takes you by storm. You wake up one moment and everything is normal, and then all of a sudden, things change, and your world is flipped upside down. You’re no longer able to comprehend what’s true. You begin to question God. How could He let something like this happen to me? Have you had an experience like that?

When I was in this season, Bible study wasn’t high on my priority list. Reading the Bible felt more like a chore than a peace-filled activity. I didn’t know where to turn. I didn’t know what to do, but I knew I needed to do something. So, I ordered a journal from Cultivate What Matters. The sole concept of the journal is writing Scripture. That’s it.

Putting pen to paper and writing exactly what I was prompted to write. No thinking required. The simple act of writing down Scripture centered me. It held me together when mentally and emotionally I was falling apart. It re-focused my mind off of my circumstances and re-directed me to the one thing that is constant and true: God’s Word and His promises.

To end our 2020 year together and to celebrate our 50th study, I want to personally invite you to join me in the study that changed my life. It’s called Write the Word: Cultivate Worship by Lara Casey and the Cultivate What Matters team.

I have a feeling you may have had ups and downs this year, and what better way to finish 2020 than by opening the Bible, opening the journal, and writing what it says? I look forward to walking through this study alongside you because I’ll be leading this study with my friend, Kendra Schwarz, beginning November 30.

So, are you in? I hope so!
