Hey there, OBSers!

This week, Kendra and I are joining forces to lead you through the final week of our Write the Word: Cultivate Worship P31 OBS, and oh my goodness, the stories we’ve heard so far! You guys are loving the simple, yet profound way writing God’s Word is impacting your lives. We couldn’t agree more. We think this is just what our 2020 needed.

Who out there is all decorated and ready for Christmas? We got an early start this year. It’s like we just couldn’t wait for Christmas. Why do you think that is?

We’ve said it many times, this has been a rough year no one predicted. Remember New Year’s Day when we celebrated 2020 as the year of clear vision? We couldn’t have been more wrong! But still, through writing God’s Word, we are reminded God is good. And this time of year, we celebrate it with Christmas.

Christmas is love.
Christmas is hope.
Christmas is Jesus.

In our journal today, on pages 42-43, we are writing Philippians 2:9-11. Paul wrote these words summing up what the name of Jesus means to us.

“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (ESV).

Jesus is the name above every name. At His name, we bow and confess Him as our Lord. Isn’t this exactly what we are thankful for this Christmas? Jesus is Lord … no matter what’s happening in our world. Now that’s reason for praise and worship! And with that, let’s move on to this week’s study!

In today’s video, Lara Casey is back! She has some wise words about why looking back and looking forward are both important, and how we can keep a posture of worship in any circumstance.
