Identity Equality {Week 7, Day 4}

October 29, 2020
“40 Days” by Proverbs 31 Ministries | P31 OBS Week 7 Quote

Hey there, ladies!

Yesterday, we saw how Saul’s experience with God shaped his identity. In today’s story about Peter, we’ll see God’s desire for equality as it relates to identity.

We are living in some challenging times, friends. Times where how we hold our identity can unintentionally harm others and vice versa. Peter is corrected by God on this same topic.

My heart overflows with thankfulness that God isn’t just concerned about the identities of one group, but about all who come to Him. No matter your gender, ethnicity, educational background or income, our longing for identity can be fulfilled in Him.

With that said, it’s time to pause for our weekly “thank break”!

Every time I think about who God is and how He sees us, individually and collectively, I’m brought to tears. If only we could see ourselves as He does, and not just as extensions of the things to which we tether our identity.

Despite our habit of building our identities on things that lack eternal value, God still calls us to find our place in Him. Isn’t that amazing? This is something God is teaching me to live out every day, and I hope you are feeling the call this week to do the same!

Today’s homework:

Can’t wait to see you in the chat!

I love this statement by Wendy on page 165 in our Study Guide: “God is most glorified when the church reflects the Kingdom - when it reflects His mosaic culturally, racially, and socially.” What are some ways you can show your thankfulness to God for His intentionally colorful mosaic?
