When We Want to Quit All the Stuff

December 15, 2017
5 Habits Online Bible Study

Hey! Nichole Stern with you today. I’m SO EXCITED about studying Nicki Koziarz’s #5HabitsBook with you, and I hope you are too!

My husband and I live on ten acres we call Manna Homestead. We have goats, chickens, rabbits, bees and a dog named Maverick. While I love this life, homesteading can be hard.

Like when my baby goats died and our beehive flooded. Or the year(s) our garden produced more weeds than food.

Some days I don’t want to do ALL THE STUFF it takes to keep everyone and everything alive around here. Sometimes … I just want to quit. Can I get an amen?

Our #P31OBS study of 5 Habits of a Woman Who Doesn’t Quit is filled with truths from God’s Word to help us no matter where we are in life. So if quitting has ever crossed your mind, or your lips, be assured we study leaders are raising our hands saying, “Me too!”

Let’s dig in a bit, shall we?

In Chapter 1, Nicki says,

“Intentional steps of obedience mean more to God than we might realize … In God’s eyes, the ‘big’ things I want to do for Him mean just as much as the ‘little’ things I’m called to do daily.”

Wow. God cares about ALL THE STUFF.

One of the things I love about Jesus is that He loves us too much to leave us where we are. He sees our quitter hearts and He wants to change us into women who are joyfully committed to finishing what we start. As we learn in our Verse of the Week, perseverance is important to Him, and He wants it to be important to us too.

Habit One of the #5HabitsBook is accepting the assignment of refinement. I want to be a woman God can count on to follow through. So the next time I find myself in the midst of our Manna Homestead craziness, I want to apply the truths we’re learning here. I want to grow through my assignments of refinement. How about you, friend?

Reflect and Respond:

Observe — In Chapter 1, Nicki says, “Opposition is always an opportunity for God to reveal Himself.” What opposition are you facing today?
Bible — Read Ruth 1:1-18. In your journal (have you seen our beautiful P31 OBS printable and interactive PDF journal options?) write in your own words what took place and how these events affected Naomi and Ruth. Then write down one thing you learned that you can apply to your own refinement assignment.
Stretch — Stretch — As we finish out Week 1, look for God in the midst of your opposition. Jot in your journal how God reveals Himself to you through it and share on social media using the hashtags #5HabitsBook #P31OBS #DontYouDareQuit
