What Are You Looking For?

November 29, 2019
“In order to find Jesus, every one of us needs direction. God gives it.” - Max Lucado #BecauseOfBethlehem | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies Week 3b #P31OBS

Can you believe we are at the end of Week 3? I have enjoyed studying with you.

In the last few days, we have been looking at being intentional to find Jesus and not miss God's goodness during this Advent season.

In Chapter 9 of Because of Bethlehem, Max Lucado says:

“In order to find Jesus, every one of us needs direction. God gives it.”

One night, long ago, God gave direction to some seekers. Matthew 2:9 (NIV) tells us:

“After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.“

The wise men sought the baby King foretold of in Scripture, and God gave them direction in the form of the star over Bethlehem.

God is not silent today. He still speaks and gives us direction. He wants us to find Jesus.

I search for Him in Scripture when I am needing direction. We can also seek Him through hymns, trusted friends, past experiences or the testimonies of others. Whichever we choose, we can be confident God still directs those who seek Him.

As Max reminds us, “Tis the season to be looking.” But, as we go through this season, we need to be mindful of what we’re looking for. The perfect cookie recipe? The perfect gift for a loved one? OR, the reason for the season — our perfect Savior!

I want to enter this Christmas with a seeking heart. I want to look upward for God to direct me, so I don’t miss His goodness. As I do, I will expect to see the glory of Jesus, our perfect Savior. I pray you will seek Him with expectation too!
