Welcome back!

Can we chat candidly? I tend to rely on my feelings too much. I often pray, “God, I want to feel Your presence. Help me feel Your presence.”

On page 123 of Dangerous Prayers, Craig Groeschel writes:

“Sometimes you know he is with you, not by feeling, but by faith.”

Faith — being sure of something even when we can’t see (or feel) it. (Hebrews 11:1)

How do you respond when you can’t see or feel God’s presence? Do you know Him well enough to be sure He’s there? Or does doubt creep in and cause you to question Him?

Though there’s nothing like feeling God’s presence, the Bible assures us He’s always there whether we feel it or not. (Joshua 1:5). He’s ever-present. (Jeremiah 23:23-24) When we rely on our feelings, our faith journey is a roller coaster full of ups and downs. One minute we respond in exhilaration, “I’m here Lord; send me,” and the next we hesitate to step out, “Where are You, God? Are You with me?”

Perhaps that roller coaster is more of a reality than we like to admit. But it doesn’t have to be!

Our level of trust in God directly impacts our faith to pray “send me.” In this week’s Bible Study Companion, we’ll take a look at one way to grow our trust: by gaining greater insight into who God is.
