The Hard Work Will Pay Off

February 17, 2023

Hey there, friend! Here we are at the end of Week 4, and, goodness, we did some hard, personal work this week. If you remember, Lysa told us way back in the Introduction, “Throughout these pages we’ll seek to honestly examine what is and is not healthy in our hearts but also in the relationships where we invest our hearts” (p. XVIII).

My heart received a workout this week; I’m sure yours did as well. But as I took Lysa’s advice in Chapter 7 and “sat with God,” He helped me answer a few big questions:

  • Who am I?
  • Who or what makes me whole?
  • What needs do I have?

And here’s what I’m tucking deeply into my heart: “As you let all these words sit with you, pray and ask God to help you receive from Him who you really are. He created you and made you in His very own image. Capture an image of His goodness and you’ll find some part of you there” (p. 114). These questions and these truths are difficult, maybe impossible, to answer on our own. God invites us, as His children, to come to Him for help, relying on Him for this the same way we can rely on Him for everything.

Now, let’s turn our attention to our Session 4 video. Lysa helps us understand that just like sports fans show their support and who they follow by wearing their team’s jerseys, we show Jesus how much we truly rely and follow Him by our actions, attitude and words. Ready to watch?

Don’t forget! The Good Boundaries and Goodbyes study guide is available to purchase. And when you purchase, you get access to all the teaching videos!

As we continue to do the hard work of setting boundaries with others, we can celebrate little milestones along the way, knowing God is with us every step of the way.

See you next week!
