Knowing God More Fully

June 28, 2019
"God will accomplish His purposes." - Wendy Blight #HiddenJoyBook | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies Week 2 #P31OBS

I want to begin today by thanking you. The last two weeks may have been hard. They may have stepped on your toes in ways that didn’t feel good. But, you’ve persevered. And for that, I’m so proud of you.

Looking back, it’s hard to remember a time when God’s Word wasn’t my lifeline. But, early in this journey, it wasn’t. I only read my Bible when I needed God desperately.

Yet, God didn’t judge or punish me. Instead, He faithfully met me whenever I showed up. I came to realize I couldn’t trust who I didn’t know. I didn’t know God, so each time I met Him in His Word, He met me and taught me great and wonderful things. (Jeremiah 33:3) God taught me about who He is, and who I am in Him. It wasn’t emotional. It was educational.

Hebrews 4:12 tells us God’s Word is living and active. It penetrates to soul and spirit. Joints and marrow. Exposing our hearts and minds to it begins chain-breaking, stronghold-shattering, life-transforming work that only God can do.

That’s what’s happening right here in our midst, sweet friends! We’re coming to know God more fully.

We’re learning.

Learning God loves us with an everlasting love.

Learning that nothing will ever separate us from that love. Nothing. Not anything that’s been done to us and not anything we’ve ever done! In fact, not only will nothing separate us from His love, but because of God’s powerful love living inside of us, He guarantees in Romans 8:37 that we’ll be … not just conquerors … but MORE than conquerors over any trial, trouble or obstacle.

As we wrap up Week 2, believe with me today that God will accomplish His purposes. That your hope, your healing, your freedom is coming!

Let’s pray together:

Father, I want to believe, but it’s hard because I’ve felt forgotten, even abandoned by You. Today, I choose to trust You at Your Word. Thank You for reminding me of who You are and of Your life-giving, faith-transforming truths and promises. Help me be patient. Help me with my unbelief. Fix my eyes on Your promises, not my feelings and my circumstances. Remind me that my hope and healing is found in You and You alone. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Reflect and Respond:

How does what you’ve learned about the character or promises of God enable you to trust Him better with what you’re walking through today?

Take that character trait or promise one step further and write a short (one or two sentence) prayer in the comments below, asking God to help you trust Him as you bravely continue on this healing journey. I’ll start.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise that I am MORE than a conqueror. Give me the faith and confidence to live like I believe this promise as I continue to battle my anxiety. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.

Don’t forget, all comments will be entered into this week’s giveaway.
