Before we dig into this week’s Bible Study Companion, let’s ponder where we’re at with these questions posed by Wendy Blight in Hidden Joy in a Dark Corner:

Which, would you say, is most accurate for you in regards to the Bible?

• I’ve never read it.
• I’ve read some of it but don’t understand it.
• It’s an interesting history/storybook.
• I use it as a guide for living, but also look to other sources for truth.
• It’s my daily bread and only Truth by which I live.

What’s your first response when things unravel in your life? Do you...

• Look for someone to blame?
• Determine your own steps to “fix” the problem?
• Retreat into a shell?
• Look to God?
• Go to God’s Word?
• Pray for understanding?

In Hidden Joy this week, Wendy Blight has been taking us through many of the characteristics of God and the power and purpose of His Word. She does this so we can learn to trust and go to Him and His Word first when things in our life unravel. She also reminds us:

“When we open His Word, God promises to open our hearts and minds to what it says.”
