Mama to Mama {Week 7}

October 22, 2021

Dear Mama,

Before we say goodbye, we each wanted to write you one last message of encouragement ...

Grace. That simple, five-letter word has a significant impact on our lives, both as believers in Christ and as moms. Through grace, God saves, sanctifies and strengthens us in Jesus. It’s neither earned nor deserved, but God loves us so much that He gives us this precious gift.

Throughout this study, I’ve learned to accept that grace. I’ve learned it’s because of that grace that we can be honest with our children in our weaknesses — because it’s through those moments we can see Jesus working in us.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9, ESV)

Give yourself grace, Mama. You got this!

Missy

We all have a past; that’s inevitable. Today I’m sharing two words that changed the direction of my thoughts, peace and outlook about my past: New Legacy! When I heard this, something so powerful rattled deep inside me. It was like new life being awakened, reminding me that both my present and my future will be different from my past. When fear, anxiety or shame tries to invade my thoughts, I tell myself, Angela, you are a new legacy for yourself, your children and your children’s children.

Mama, we have the gift of new beginnings, grace, forgiveness, power and peace because of Jesus. I hope this promise in Scripture encourages you in the hard days or when the enemy is trying to mess with your mind.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV)

You are new!

Angela

Know what I’ll remember most from this study? Not us. Not our power. But Christ and His power to transform us and our kids.

“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.” (John 6:44, NIV)

Christ is the One who draws us to Him. That’s His part. Praying, getting to know Him, sharing about Him and showing His character through our actions — that’s our part.

May we always rely on Christ and His power. Through Him, we are moms set free who will raise kids set free. In Jesus’ name, amen!

Love,

Brandy
