What Have You Been Carrying For Too Long?

September 6, 2019
“He created you to need Him and have your needs met by Him.” - WJennifer Rothschild #Psalm23Study| Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies Week 1 #P31OBS

Happy Friday, friend!

Picture this...

I arrive home from grocery shopping. I start unloading and, for some reason, I instantly believe I’m superwoman. I load a ridiculous amount of bags up my arms to prevent having to make another trip. By the time I reach the kitchen counter, my arms have red indentations, loss of circulation, and I can barely hold on any longer. What a relief when I’m finally able to release the weight!

I know that might sound silly, but I do this all the time, with groceries and in life. I keep adding one burden on top of another, determined to handle them on my own. Can you relate?

We determined Wednesday it’s okay to be a sheep, but part of that requires us being willing to live out our role as one. One way we can do that is by casting our cares on Him. We’re not made to carry this heavy burden alone. He wants to carry the weight for us, but we have to be willing to let Him. Or as Jennifer Rothschild puts it in Psalm 23: The Shepherd with Me:

“He created you to need Him and have your needs met by Him.”

What have you been carrying alone for too long? What do you need to release to God today? Will you let the weight of your worries go by trusting Him to carry them for you?

Sheep depend on their shepherd, and we can, too! So let’s do as sheep do!

Reflect and Respond:

Do you try to carry more than you should? What has encouraged you this week to release the burden to Him?

All comments will be entered into this week's giveaway!
