Hey, Stacy Lowe here with you today!
Yesterday, Melissa Taylor officially kicked off our newest P31 OBS, Worthy, based on the book She's Still There by Chrystal Evans Hurst and what a fabulous beginning it was, right?
Before we get too far into this journey, though, I think it’s important we establish some ground truth to work from, and what better place to ground ourselves than in God’s Word?
Our Verse of the Week is Ephesians 2:10a (NLT), and it says this:
"For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus."
Now, being the kind of person who likes to break things down further, I looked up the definition of masterpiece and here's what I found in Google: “a work of outstanding artistry, skill, or workmanship.”
So, putting it all together, we are examples of God’s outstanding artistry, skill and workmanship. Even more specifically, YOU, my friend, are such an example!
Continuing into the second part of the verse, it says:
"He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."
You see, friend, while we may not always feel like a masterpiece in the midst of our sometimes messy lives, God’s TRUTH is always greater than our feelings. His TRUTH says that we are indeed a masterpiece and He has good things planned for us to do.
And you know what’s even better? This promise in Ephesians comes with no fine print or exclusions! Whether you’re 20 or 80, married or single, have it all together or are falling apart, if you’re in Christ Jesus, He has good for you to do. Yes, YOU! That's a truth we need to stick in our back pocket and carry with us on this journey.
As author Chrystal Evans Hurst reminds us in Chapter 1 of She’s Still There,
“You are allowed to be both a masterpiece and a work in progress simultaneously.”
So, will you give yourself permission to be that messy masterpiece? Will you choose to believe with me that no matter where you currently find yourself in life, as long as you’ve got breath in your lungs, God still has something GOOD for you to do? That what you have to offer this world MATTERS? Because you do, and it does. And you know how I know? Because God’s Word says so.
So buckle up and get ready, sweet friends! That beautiful truth makes it a beautiful day indeed!
Reflect and Respond:
Will you proclaim here and now that YOU are God’s masterpiece? In your journal or notebook, personalize this statement:
I, _____, am God’s masterpiece, created anew in Christ Jesus to do the good things He planned for me long ago!
