Quit Letting Doubt Prevail {Week 4}

February 14, 2020
“The battle is either won or lost based on the decisions that flow from our minds.” - Lysa TerKeurst #TrustworthyStudy | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies Week 4 #P31OBS

Hey there! I’m Alicia Hunter here to wrap up Week 4 with you.

I get excited about new situations and new opportunities, but then something happens.

Fear takes over.

“I can’t do this!”

“What if I fail?”

“I’m not good enough.”

In Day 5 of Trustworthy this week, Lysa TerKeurst helps us understand:

“The battle is either won or lost based on the decisions that flow from our minds.”

I want to win the battle. But positive thoughts get hijacked by doubt. It happens at work and at home. It happened once when my husband signed me up for a 5K.

I’m not a runner. But joining my husband in something he loves brings joy… and sometimes fear.

Race day came, and when my feet hit the pavement, Philippians 4:13 came to mind. I wondered, did "all things through Christ" include a 5K? I was about to find out.

I turned a corner, grumbling to myself, legs wobbly, gasping for breath. I wanted to quit.

But I heard a noise. Then I saw the street lined with people holding posters, cheering... for me!

“You can do it!”

“You’ve got this!”

My pain eased. Negative thoughts faded as I crossed the finish line.

The encouragement of that day helped me learn that fear fades when I quit letting doubt prevail.

So how do we do that?

Declare: Speak the Word of God out loud over your situation.

Believe: Don't listen to doubt that creeps in. Decide to trust God because, like we learned this week, trust is greater than fear.

Respond: Take the first step. God will send people to cheer you on.

You’ve got this,
Alicia

Reflect and Respond:

What situation in your life is causing fear? What step can you take today to overcome that fear?

For Your Weekend:
